Okay so if you are an avid Flaunt Ya Faith customer you know that a lot of our jewelry is made with Rhodium. A question we get asked quite often is, what is rhodium. Well today I’m going to lay it all out and tell you the truth about rhodium.
What is rhodium plating? Rhodium plating is a type of metal plating that prevents jewelry from being tarnished, scratched, and it improves the color of the jewelry. Rhodium plated jewelry is much stronger and the appearance can look better than non-plated parts. Rhodium is used in rings, bracelets, necklaces, and other jewelry types to improve the quality and longevity.
Advantages/Disadvantages of Rhodium Plating
Rhodium has many advantages it protects the jewelry from heat, corrosion, and wear and tear. Rhodium plating also tarnish-proofs jewelry so it is brightened. Rhodium is also hypoallergenic so there are no worries about fingers or arms turning green. Some of the disadvantages include its rarity and over time (if the jewelry is not properly cared) (See jewelry care tips here) it will wear off.
